Lydia Serrano ’99

Lydia Serrano (American Studies) is a communications professional who has dedicated her career to learning from the ground up and building relationships. She has held a diverse number of positions spanning hospitality, wine & spirits sales, food advocacy, faith-based social justice, and tech marketing. Lydia is a lifelong learner who holds several wine certifications including the Advanced Certificate awarded by the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET) and the Certified Specialist of Wine awarded by the Society of Wine Educators (SWE). She received her master’s degree in integrated marketing from NYU.

Lydia is committed to mentoring, focusing her efforts on students and the undocumented/immigrant communities. In addition to serving on the board of 1stGenYale, Lydia has built a three-plus-year relationship as a "Big Sister" to her fifteen-year-old "Little" through Bigs & Littles NYC and is a founding member of the Cabrini Coalition, an East Harlem-based interfaith organization that offers practical and spiritual support to immigrant families. An avid runner (9 marathons completed and counting), she is fluent in Spanish and Italian and currently splits her time between NYC, Puerto Rico, and Florence, Italy.
