Yale Alumni, Welcome Incoming Yale College Students and Share Your Story — Saturday, July 26, 2025
First-Year Scholars at Yale, Yale Summer Session, Yale College, and 1stGenYale invite you to a special program on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at Yale.
Celebrating our 10th year, alumni from all Yale schools and your guests are invited to participate in Alumni Perspectives: Navigating Yale & Beyond at FSY (fsy.yale.edu).
We want to celebrate you — alumni — and especially those who participated in the First-Year Scholars at Yale program, 2016-2024, so far. Think of it as a special reunion of our Trailblazers — You and Your Story.
We have a special invitation also to FSY alumni, who were in-coming students in FSY from 2013-2021, and can look back and share their journey with our new students.
Join us and meet our new group of ninety-six 2025 FSY students on Saturday, July 26, 2025. These entering students, who were just like you, want to meet you and hear your story. Here are some things to think about sharing:
– What was your journey through Yale to your current career or profession?
– Looking back, what would you have done differently, or the same, at Yale?
– What advice would you give entering first-gen low-income students?
Kindly complete the following form and let us know of your interest to participate in our celebration of First-Year Scholars at Yale! (Given the nature of the program, children under 18 are not permitted to attend.) After you complete the information form, we’ll let you know about the event plan, location, and time as we get closer to the date. We’re excited to see you!

Background: On Saturday, July 30, 2016, 25 alumni from first-gen low-income backgrounds first met 25 incoming Yale College FSY students in WHL, followed by a reception in the Grace Hopper Buttery. Students and alumni told stories, laughed, and even cried from noon – 7pm. No one wanted to leave, until they turned the lights off. Both our lives changed forever. Yale changed, too.
For now 10 consecutive years, over 500 first-gen low-income alumni have come back to Yale to embrace 360 FSY students. (It was held virtually in 2020 and 2021). We want to thank the Yale FSY team, Yale Summer Session, and Yale College for inviting 1stGenYale alumni to participate in your annual FSY program.
1stGenYale alumni come from diverse backgrounds, including being 1st in our families to graduate from college or graduate school and those also from underserved backgrounds. We connect with each other to share our stories and have a positive impact on the lives of Yale students and alumni. Yale alumni from all schools are welcome. You do not need to have come from a first-generation and/or low-income background to participate.
